I would like to commend Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh for undertaking to write a book for high school students to introduce them to law as a discipline and to encourage them to start a formal law course at a university. “Ignorantia juris non excusat” is a famous maxim that means that ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law. Learning about the essential nature of the law and the legal systems involved is useful to every human being. Legal Studies by Prof. Vijay Kumar Singh, is a comprehensive textbook on the subject and deals with difficult legal language in a simplified way that is easy to understand and at the same time does not lose its legal character. This book was written on the basis of the ISC curriculum for Class XI; However, it will be useful for general readers interested in learning basic legal concepts. Download the free Kindle app and instantly read Kindle books on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, no Kindle device required. This book begins with the unit on the historical evolution of the Indian legal system, followed by six key areas of law, namely.dem concept of law and jurisprudence, concept of legal personality, criminal law and procedure, civil law and procedure, family law and fundamental rights. Each of these units has been divided into sub-themes for ease of understanding.

At the end of the book, there is a list of project proposals that learners can explore for their practical and natural understanding of different legal situations and issues, as well as a bank of questions. A topic index at the end helps to maneuver seamlessly across topics and subtopics. The subject of law allows students to become more aware of legal concepts/rules and to create an awareness of their rights and duties as citizens. The key qualities of a lawyer are good communication skills, logical thinking, critical analysis and a clear sense of interpretation. The study of this book on legal studies will help with all this. Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the author of the book, recently presented a copy of the book to Justice Talwant Singh, a judge of the Delhi High Court. Justice Talwant Singh wrote the foreword to this book.
